A Postgraduate Training in Decision-Making for Yoga Professionals
Designed to develop your ability to observe posture, breath and movement as meaningful information and to make grounded responsive decisions when teaching and practice become complex.
July 6–11 2026
Grace & Glow Studios, Stroud, UK
Places are limited to preserve the depth of discussion, individual feedback and meaningful assessment.
Anatomy is often skimmed over in yoga teacher trainings and presented as theory with little connection to practice.
Students may memorise the names of bones and muscles without understanding how that knowledge applies to real bodies in motion.
As teachers gain experience, this can create a quiet uncertainty.
You may know the cues you were taught, yet real bodies do not always respond in predictable ways. Posture, movement, and breath interact in ways that are far more individual than fixed alignment models assume.
Many teachers eventually reach a point where repeating memorised cues no longer feels sufficient, yet they have never been shown how to interpret what they are seeing.
This course addresses that gap directly.
This is where applied anatomy and movement observation become essential.
This advanced 50-hour training is designed for teachers who want to move beyond memorised alignment cues and develop a deeper understanding of how posture, movement, and asana interact in real bodies.
Through structured education and applied observation, the course develops the clarity and confidence needed to observe posture and movement more clearly and to make grounded decisions that respond to the individual in front of you.
The emphasis is not on accumulating more information, but on learning how to see and think more clearly in practice and teaching.
Whether you are newly qualified or an experienced teacher, this training develops the skills needed to respond more precisely to the needs of the individual.
Participants learn how to:
• Understand posture and movement more deeply
• Modify asana with confidence and clarity
• Design practices that support different bodies and goals
• Teach with greater precision and authority
The result is a more informed, adaptable approach to teaching yoga and a deeper understanding of your own physical practice.
What Makes This Course Special?
What shapes this training is not only what is taught, but how learning happens.
The course is built around observation, discussion, and shared investigation of movement. Rather than presenting fixed answers, the training creates space to examine what is actually happening in the body and to explore how different responses may be appropriate in different situations.
Participants are encouraged to question what they see, test ideas in practice, and develop their own reasoning through guided observation and feedback.
This approach develops something more valuable than memorised information. It develops the ability to continue learning.
For many teachers, this becomes one of the most meaningful aspects of the training: discovering that teaching is not about having the right answers, but about developing the capacity to observe clearly and respond thoughtfully.
Here, questioning is not treated as a challenge to authority.
It is recognised as an essential part of real learning.

This training is designed as an immersive week of observation, discussion, and practical investigation of movement. Each day combines applied lectures with guided observation and hands-on practice, allowing concepts to be explored directly in the body rather than understood only in theory. You will sharpen your ability to see what is actually happening in your students’ practice.
Together, we examine posture, breath, and movement patterns through the lens of biomechanics, using yoga asana as a way to reveal how the body organises itself and where compensations appear.
Rather than treating asana as fixed shapes, we explore each posture to understand its mechanical demands and its potential applications for different bodies. The focus is always on the individual in front of you.

Participants work in small groups to observe and assess each other’s posture and movement, learning how different bodies adapt and how teaching can respond to those differences with greater precision. Each day moves between observation, discussion, and practice. Ideas are tested immediately in the body, refined through feedback, and revisited through conversation with the group.
By the end of the week many teachers find they are seeing movement differently. Postures that once appeared familiar begin to reveal new information, and teaching becomes less about repeating cues and more about responding to what is actually present in the room.

James is a movement educator, postural therapist and anatomy specialist with over a decade of experience teaching internationally.
He has delivered anatomy and teaching lectures across more than thirty 200-hour teacher trainings and worked with over 900 students.
His background integrates yoga strength training biodynamics postural assessment and applied anatomy.
His work focuses on developing observational clarity and independent judgment rather than memorisation and pattern-following.
This postgraduate training represents a refined model developed from years of teaching teachers and observing where traditional approaches fall short.
When I finished my YTT I felt so unconfident when teaching. I didn’t understand the anatomy and teaching a class of people terrified me. I came across James and we started having 1-1 PT sessions regularly.
These sessions are the best thing I’ve ever done. James became my teacher and he completely transformed my confidence as a teacher.
He explained things in a way I understood, the anatomy that I had never been able to get my head around suddenly became so easy to me.
I am so thankful that I met James, and I am so excited about his future courses.
