Anatomy is often skimmed over in Yoga Teacher Training Courses, treated as a dry theory with little practical application. Designed for your continued growth both in your career and confidence through structured education and knowledge.

ENHANCE YOUR IMPACT AS A TEACHER

COURSE OVERVIEW

What Makes This Course Special?

What makes this 50-hour Yoga Teacher Training truly exceptional is the strong emphasis on asana and anatomy. Rather than just scratching the generalised surface, this course will empower you to teach yoga practices that work directly with the unique needs of each individual. By the end of the course, you will be adept at working one-on-one with clients and bringing a deeper, more specialized approach to leading group yoga classes that go beyond and exceed the current standard.

If you are seeking easy answers, this course is not for you. My goal is to help you cultivate critical thinking and provide you with the tools for lifelong learning and self-discovery. It is this deep commitment to inquiry that distinguishes us from the norm — taking a stance against authoritative teaching that disempowers the individual and leads to the prevalence of dangerous practices. Here, questioning is not only encouraged, it is essential.

Course Curriculum
  • Apply what you learn each day by carrying out a one-on-one assessment, practical application of your observations followed by questions, answers and feedback.
  • By the end of the course, you will have conducted six individual assessments, two of which will form your practicum.
  • Understand the planes of motion and joint movements, laying the foundation for precise observation and analysis.
  • Learn to apply this anatomical knowledge by observing how each asana affects individual bodies, identifying joint movements and compensations.
  • Learn to clearly communicate your observations to your clients.
  • Explore the complex actions of the shoulder joint and scapula, recognizing individual movements and common compensations.
  • Understand what scapular positioning reveals about someone’s posture and how to tailor programs to meet specific requirements.
  • Learn how this relates to poor breathing, headaches, elbow issues, and general weakness of movements
  • Understand the nuances of anterior and posterior pelvic tilt, learning how to address common alignment issues – there is no single stretch to cure all.
  • Discern how posture affects the ability to perform certain movements and why persistent ‘tight’ hamstrings can occur despite continued stretching.
  • Develop specialized programs to improve posture and progression based on these insights.
  • Deepen your understanding of spinal movements, learning how to program for different positions of the spine.
  • Understand how proper spinal alignment can unlock other movements that may feel restricted or weak.
  • Improve your teaching skills by learning how to observe and assist individual students within your classes.
  • Refine your ability to deconstruct postures for individual needs, learning how to progress and regress the asana.
  • Learn how to conduct postural assessments and create individualized asana programs that are tailored to your client’s needs.
  • Enhance your use of props and hands-on adjustments.
  • Start adjusting with confidence by being able to communicate exactly what you are doing and what you want your client to feel.
  • Learn how to adapt if your client struggles to understand the movement.
  • There is no final exam. Consolidate your knowledge at the end of each day with six mini-tests, and receive direct feedback.

Refine Your Observation Skills

In this course, you will sharpen your ability to see what is really happening in your student’s practice. You will learn how to interpret postures from a biomechanical perspective, using yoga asanas to uncover and address postural compensations. We will dissect each asana to understand its specific benefits and applications for the individual in front of you. After all, you are not teaching a group of people – you are teaching individual people that make up a group.

Develop Your Practical Knowledge

Each day is a blend of academic learning and hands-on practice. You will get the opportunity to apply what you learn immediately, refining your teaching style with each session. This is not just about theory — it is about practically applying what you learn and developing the application of this knowledge, in turn transforming your practice and teaching.

YOUR ANATOMY EDUCATOR

Hi, I am James Hunt, the course teacher and founder of Physical Element, I have been teaching yoga and working with clients for over ten years, helping them improve their practice and move beyond postural pain and injuries.

My knowledge stems from a combination of studies and experience including, sports massage, personal training, biodynamics, gymnastic strength training, and yoga. I have over 28 years of training experience, from strength training, yoga, and calisthenics to snowboarding and wakeboarding.

In my professional pursuit to gain a greater understanding of the teachings of yoga and movement, I have studied Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga across the world. Since then, I have taught internationally working on over thirty 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses, delivering lectures on anatomy and the art of teaching to more than 900 students, as well as continuing to work privately with clients.

OUR STUDENTS LOVE THIS COURSE

When I finished my YTT I felt so unconfident when teaching. I didn’t understand the anatomy and teaching a class of people terrified me. I came across James and we started having 1-1 PT sessions regularly.

These sessions are the best thing I’ve ever done. James became my teacher and he completely transformed my confidence as a teacher.

He explained things in a way I understood, the anatomy that I had never been able to get my head around suddenly became so easy to me.

I am so thankful that I met James, and I am so excited about his future courses.

Grace Delnevo

I had the pleasure of learning from James during my 200-hour yoga teacher training. He is an exceptional teacher—his profound knowledge, respect for his students, and remarkable skill in making complex concepts accessible truly set him apart. His teaching style and its emphasis on proper alignment and a holistic approach, not only deepened my understanding of anatomy but also highlighted the interconnectedness of the body’s systems in my yoga practice.
James’s dedication and expertise have left a lasting impact on my journey as a yoga practitioner and teacher. Thank you, James, for being such an inspiring and invaluable part of my training!

Ellen Maier

James is an awesome, supportive, and enthusiastic teacher.

His deep knowledge of anatomy makes his classes very insightful and practical. He focuses on healing through conscious movement and deep understanding of the body and poses, helping us build a strong foundation and prevent injuries.

His easygoing vibe makes it easy to ask questions, and his humor makes classes fun.

I’m lucky to have had him as my YTTC teacher and grateful for his ongoing support. Thanks, James, for helping me embrace my authenticity.
